Draft for the Phase 0 preview and waitlist. Effective 2026-09-09. This draft is pending legal review and will be replaced before the dating features launch. The engineering privacy model behind it is maintained in the Porchlight repository.

Who we are

What the preview app collects

The current Porchlight app is a preview. It has no accounts, no sign-in, and does not collect location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. The rooms, letters, and people shown in the preview are fictional.

If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you enter, the time you joined, which platform you joined from (the iOS app or this website), the app version, and, on the website only, the referring page and campaign tags in the link you used. We do not store device identifiers or your location.

How we use it

Waitlist emails are used for one purpose: to tell you when Porchlight opens and how to get in. We do not sell, rent, or share the list. We do not send a newsletter.

Where it lives

Waitlist entries are stored in Amazon Web Services in the United States, encrypted at rest, and reachable only by Porchlight's own servers. Our operational logs record that a signup happened but never the email address itself.

How long we keep it

Waitlist entries are deleted no later than twelve months after launch invitations go out, or sooner if you ask.

Your choices

To be removed from the waitlist at any time, email porchlight@kinetic-flux.com from the address you signed up with. We will confirm when it is gone.

What will change when the full product launches

The full Porchlight product will use Sign in with Apple, store a minimal profile (first name, age, country and broad region, a short description, and dating preferences), the room you build, the letters you send and receive, and the private check-ins you record. Private check-ins will be visible only to you, never to the person you are matched with, and never used to rank or recommend. Precise location will never be collected. A complete policy covering these features, our moderation and safety processing, and any third-party providers will be published before those features are available, and you will be asked to accept it when you sign in.

Children

Porchlight is for adults. The preview app is rated for ages 17 and up, and the full product will require age verification.
